Etna Volcano
Terrifying, fascinating and splendid, depending on the life-inducing moments, as has been said that Etna grants with it’s summit,
the passing of seasons: one minute covered with snow; the next with a plume of black smoke; now limpid and dark.
Born 200 million years ago, many geologists and volcanologists love to define it as the Sicily’s Father Volcano, ascribing it the work of having given life and having united all the small islands spread out in the Mediterranean Sea.
Its particular position influences the climate and therefore the wine-growing production of its slopes.
A strongly-characterised production considering the altitude and exposition, life-giving elements to different micro-climates and micro-zones.
The land’s wealth of minerals, the strong slopes and the climate’s variability are very conditioning elements for the maturation of the grapes and the productivity of the vines.
Various info. relative to the volcano:
Height: 3346 metres above sea level (variable due to eruptions)
Circumference (at sea level): 250 Km
